I witnessed Mike & Marla's wedding 13 years ago, it is still of of my favorite weddings to date. Last month, I had the honor of capturing their beautiful family in a sun-bleached field with a huge Oak tree in the middle. This hundred year old oak had recently been lit on fire. The base around the East side of the tree had been scorched, we could still smell the stench of the charred earth. Yet the tree still stood tall and strong. It made me think of this quote by Napoleon Hill; "The strongest oak of the forest is not the one that is protected from the storm and hidden from the sun. It’s the one that stands in the open where it is compelled to struggle for its existence against the winds and rains and the scorching sun.”
What an immense blessing it is to document people and their cherished loved ones.
